Joe Terino

Summit Leadership Series: Joe Terino of L Catterton

Our student-led speaker series, funded by the Raif Dinçkök Student Forum Fund, continues to bring exceptional business leaders to campus. On February 25, we hosted Joe Terino, partner at L Catterton, the world’s largest consumer-focused private equity firm. Joe Terino is also a Terrier, having graduated from BU.

In front of a packed classroom, Questrom student Grant Corbett posed questions to Terino, asking him about his career journey, including his transition after 20 years in consulting to his current gig in private equity – a change partly based on his desire to be in a position where he could solve problems at the C-suite level. Terino spoke on a wide variety of topics including: the importance of having good relationships with your professors (he got his first job AND met his wife through a professor); the impact of Covid while running a global supply chain practice at Bain & Co (positive); the impact of tariffs (challenging); the value of heading a private equity firm that specializes in consumer products; the most important skill set – people skills.

Terino spoke openly about his current work at L Catterton, providing insights into how it creates value in the different companies it buys, including stories about specific brands it has acquired.
